Thinking About The Future (Interlude)

==========

It’s back to the drawing board for Angelica and Kayla Jones, the pair of siblings known as The Sisterhood.  They failed to defeat The Honour Code at Breakdown in the tag tournament.  Now The Sisterhood’s best hope at becoming number one contenders have gone out the window.  What that means is that Angelica and Kayla will truly have to work their way back up to tag team title contention.  It’s a good thing that they said they were willing to do that, because that’s the only way they’ll get there now.  For that matter, Angelica and Kayla are not even sure where they go from here.

Angelica Jones does have a shot at the SCW Adrenaline Championship coming up in the near future, but as much as she may want to be champion, and as much as Kayla would be happy for her sister to be champion, the two of them want to be participating in the tag team division first and foremost.  That’s their top priority.

Yet Angelica does have a potential match coming up.  What does Kayla have in store for her in the future?  What does The Sisterhood as a unit have in store for them in the future?

That’s what brings the sibling pair to Kayla’s Boston, Massachusetts headquarters.  They are here today to meet with their representative, the man who is to be their voice in negotiations with Supreme Championship Wrestling and its management in particular…

…that representative is none other than Oliver Hardy.

Oliver Hardy Jr. and Kayla Jones were foster siblings during Kayla’s teenage years.  They have a shared memory of brutal abuse, both physical and sexual in nature, at the hands of Oliver’s father Oliver Hardy Sr.  Kayla utilized modeling to escape that situation, at the age of eighteen as a model she was able to pay her own bills and move out from under Oliver Hardy Sr.’s thumb.  Later on, modeling led to Kayla being discovered as a wrestler and the rest was history.

Still, she never could find it in her heart to trust her foster sibling.  The feeling was mutual, but that was more due to an insanity that he developed as a result of the abuse.  He did seek help and he is seemingly cured of the mental illness.  He and Kayla are seemingly reconciled and all is apparently well.  Kayla is even willing to give him a chance at redemption as he is serving her and her sister as their representative in SCW.

Not everyone is willing to trust Oliver Hardy Jr.  Namely, Angelica Jones, Kayla’s older sister, is not yet willing to fully trust him.  And she has no problem making her feelings known as the ladies make their way down the long hallway towards Oliver’s office.

“I still don’t like the idea of this creep being our representative.”

Kayla sighs and rolls her eyes.

“Yeah, you’ve said that before a few times, Angelica.”

“I know, and you don’t seem to be paying any attention to my warnings.”

“I quit paying attention after the third or fourth time you mentioned it, sis.”

Angelica growls with frustration.

“This isn’t a joke, Kayla.  I am deadly serious.”

Angelica points with her right index finger straight ahead, at the office door which is now in sight.

“He cannot be trusted.”

“The same can be said of you.”

“What do you mean by that?”

The pair of siblings stop just a few feet away from the door.  Kayla motions to the door that reads “Oliver Hardy Jr., Attorney”.  She has a stern look across her face and appears as if she is prepared to eat Angelica alive.

“He made mistakes, granted, but so have you.  You have been known to set opponents on fire in the past.”

Angelica scoffs.

“They deserved it.”

“Oh really?  Did I deserve it too?”

Angelica is somewhat taken aback by Kayla’s surprising question.

“I never set you on fire, sis.  I would never do that.”

“No, but in 2003 when you made your pro-wrestling debut you targeted me.  Was it a case of jealousy?  Was it a case of sibling rivalry taken too far?  I don’t know, maybe I’ll never know, but YOU targeted me, Angelica, and I was hurt, not just physically but emotionally at the fact that my own flesh and blood wanted to hurt me.”

“I…I just…”

Angelica bows her head in shame.

“…I’m sorry.”

Kayla places a hand on her older sister’s shoulder.

“There’s no need to apologize, Angelica.  You’ve already been forgiven.  That’s in the past and we are stronger than ever because of it, but still, it’s a mistake you made.”

Again Kayla motions to Oliver Hardy’s office door.

“Oliver made a mistake too.  He realizes it and wants to make up for it.  I think we should give him that chance.”

Angelica sighs and nods her head.

“Fine, we can give him a chance but I don’t like it.”

“Yeah, you’ve already told me that plenty of times.”

Kayla turns the door knob and opens the door.  Angelica enters first followed by her sister Kayla.  Immediately they see Oliver Hardy Jr. sitting at his desk.  He rises and holds out his hand for Angelica to shake.

“Hi there, Angelica!”

She looks down at it and then back up at Oliver; she sneers but reluctantly accepts the handshake.

“Yeah, hi…”

He turns to Kayla and walks over to her and embraces her in a tight embrace.

“Hi,sis!”

“Hi, bro!”

Angelica rolls her eyes.

“I want to puke.”

Kayla and Oliver chuckle.  After breaking the embrace, Oliver walks back over to his desk and sits down.  He motions to the two chairs in front of his desk.  Angelica sits down in one and Kayla sits down in the other.

“So, Breakdown wasn’t the best night for you ladies…”

“That’s an understatement.”

Angelica’s remark is dripping with sarcasm.  Kayla shoots her a stern look, indicating that she needs to be more respectful.  Kayla then turns her attention back towards Oliver.

“No, it wasn’t.  We’re disappointed but, in all honesty, this could be the best thing to happen to The Sisterhood.”

Angelica’s eyes grow wide with shock upon hearing this.

“Best thing?!  What are smoking, sis, and why aren’t you sharing?!  The only BEST thing that could have happened would be a shot at the tag titles.”

“I want to be SCW World Tag Team Champions again just as much as you do, but we need to earn our way back to the top.  We need to prove to the world that we are serious about this tag team division.  Working our way back up from the bottom to the top may the best way to do just that.”

Angelica rolls her eyes.

“I don’t care what the people think of us, Kayla, and you know that.”

Kayla smirks.

“Yeah, I know, that’s why I’m here to be our public relations person, because you are a public relations nightmare.”

Angelica sighs and turns her attention back to Oliver.

“Let’s just get down to business, then, shall we?  Have you spoken to management about next Breakdown?”

Oliver nods his head.

“I have.”

“So what do you have for us?”

Angelica is clearly impatient, anxious to know what SCW management has planned for them but, more specifically, what kind of strings, if anything, Oliver Hardy Jr. managed to pull.  She is going to be slightly disappointed with his answer.

“Nothing for you, Angelica.”

“What?!”

He shrugs, smiling sheepishly.

“Sorry.  Mr. D wants to give you that show off.”

Angelica sighs and nods her head.

“Fine, fine, whatever.  I guess I can prepare for Apocalypse then.”

“Good, that’s a great way to look at this.”

“And what about me?”

Kayla asks.  Oliver now directs his attention to Kayla Jones, his former foster-sister.  He smiles broadly from ear to ear.

“You’re facing Lexi Von Aaron.”

“Lexi?!”

Angelica shoots straight up out of her chair, angry at this turn of events.

“That dimwit?  Mr. D is putting my sister, a Jones, a member of the greatest wrestling family ever, against that dimwit?!”

Kayla sighs and looks to her sister in an attempt to calm her down.

“Mr. D has his reasons.”

“Yeah, and his reasons probably include disrespecting The Sisterhood.”

Angelica motions to Oliver Hardy, who remains seated at his desk.

“Not to mention how Ollie here royally screwed you over.  His job as our representative is to make sure we get more high profile bookings.  Not…Lexi Von Aaron…”

Kayla stands up now out of her chair.  She turns and stares down at her sister.

“Oliver is doing the best job he can.  So back off.”

“You’re defending him?”

“Yes, I’m defending because he’s doing the job we asked him to do.  And to be honest, Angelica, facing Lexi is not that bad.  She was on the verge of becoming tag team champion at Rise To Greatness.”

“But she’s an idiot!”

“That may be true, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t talented, and it doesn’t change the fact that she is my competition and I have to do what I can to beat her at Breakdown.”

Angelica and Kayla have a tense stare down that lasts for several seconds.  The tension could be cut with a knife.  Finally, Angelica just rolls her eyes and turns away.

“Fine, you deal with Ollie.”

She opens the office door.

“I’m out of here.  I’ll see you back at the gym, sis.”

Angelica walks out and shuts the door behind her.  Kayla sighs and then turns back to face Oliver.

“I’m sorry about my sister, Oliver.  I don’t know why she’s so angry all of the time.”

Oliver grins knowingly.

“I know why.”

“Please share!  I’d love to know what’s eating away at her ass.”

“She’s worried about you.”

Kayla is taken aback.  She sits back down in the chair as she digests what Oliver just told her.

“Worried?  Angelica?”

Oliver nods his head.

“She’s playing that role of overprotective older sister beautifully.  Only she’s not playing, she’s being very real about it.”

“If that’s the case, which I seriously doubt by the way, then she really should stop because she has no need to worry about me.  I can take care of myself and I’m surrounded by great people and…”

“Great people like me, for instance?”

Kayla frowns.  She can see where this is going.

“Oliver, do not go there.  This is different and you know it.”

“Is it really?”

He shuts his eyes.

“My past is not the best.  My dad was a monster who sexually abused both of us.  It drove me to the point of insanity.”

“But you are not your father and your father is dead.  And as for the insanity, you found your way back.”

“True, but Angelica has every reason to fear and no reason to trust me when I tell her I’m better.”

He chuckles lightly.

“You’re different from the way you used to be, sis.”

Kayla cocks her head to one side and frowns.

“In what way?  How do you mean?”

“You’re way too trusting.  A lot more than your sister.  You quickly have been willing to embrace me and accept me back into the family.  You even gave me a high position in your company.  But your sister doesn’t trust me yet, and I told you from the start that I would have to earn her trust, and I thought I’d have to earn yours.”

“I guess…”

Kayla sighs and shakes her head.

“…I guess I just want to believe you have changed.”

“I have changed, Kayla, but so have you.  You used to believe in the motto “don’t trust anyone.”  Now you want to believe that people can change.  You want to believe in the best of people.”

Kayla looks up at Oliver critically.

“Is that a bad thing?”

“Not necessarily, but you do need to be careful.  There are some people you can never trust, there are some people who will just never change.  Watch out for them.”

Kayla turns her head away momentarily.  She ponders what Oliver just told her, for it makes her think back immediately to the young lady who has been recently stalking them; a black haired beauty by the name of Audrey Russo.  She tracked them down to their private gym where Angelica found her and ran her off after threatening to call police.  The next week Kayla spotted Audrey watching them from afar at their hotel room.  This was the next morning after Trenton Snow had proposed.  Did Audrey witness the whole thing?  To what extent was Audrey taking this stalking?

Kayla cornered Audrey and interrogated her.  She listened to what Audrey had to say.  Normally Kayla would not have had anything to do with someone who had clearly been stalking her but, much to her own surprise, Kayla gave Audrey her contact information so that she could get in touch with Kayla again if she needed.

Oliver is right, Kayla had changed.  But is it a change for the better?  And furthermore, is Audrey Russo someone she can trust?  Kayla thinks about this as she turns her head back to face Oliver.

“Uh, Oliver…”

“Yes?”

“A couple of weeks back, Angelica and I were training at Angelica’s private gym.  Much to our surprise we had a surprise visitor.”

Oliver arches his brow out of curiosity.

“A surprise visitor?  You don’t say?”

Kayla nods her head.

“Yeah, her name was Audrey.  Audrey Russo.”

“How did she find you guys?”

“I didn’t get a chance to ask, Oliver, because Angelica ran her off before I could ask her anything.  And I thought that was the end of it.”

“There’s more?”

Kayla sighs and again nods her head.

“Last week she showed up again.  She showed up at our hotel, she was clearly spying on us.”

“Did Angelica see her?”

She shakes her head.

“No, and I’m glad because if she had, Audrey would have been dead.  But I did see her.”

“What did you do?”

“I cornered her and I asked her questions.  I wanted to know how she found us and what she wanted.”

Oliver nods his head.

“Good.  What did you find out?”

“Apparently she had been stalking us for quite some time.”

“That’s rather creepy.  What does she want from you guys?”

“That’s another interesting thing.  She wants us to take her under our wing so to speak.  She wants us to train her and to be like her mentors.  She wants to be our protégé.”

Oliver folds his arms over his chest.

“Did you run her off like Angelica did?”

“Uh…”

Kayla smiles sheepishly, her face turns red.

“…no.”

“No?”

“No, I gave her my contact information if she wanted to see me again.”

Oliver chuckles.

“Well, ok, that was interesting.”

Kayla bows her head in shame.

“You think I made a mistake, don’t you?”

“It’s not what I would have done, but…”

He shakes his head.

“…no, I don’t think you made a mistake.”

He stands up out of his chair.  So does Kayla.

“Sis, there was no real right or wrong in that situation.  Not in my view.  You made your own judgment call and, to be honest, I do trust your judgment.  If you trust this Audrey person, then so do I.”

“So you think taking her on as a protégé might actually be a good idea?”

“Why not?”

He grins knowingly.

“Who better to train a future generation of pro-wrestler than one of the greatest pair of wrestlers ever?”

Kayla embraces Oliver in a tight hug.

“Thanks, Oliver.  I needed that reassurance.”

I try to be fair to everyone.  I try not to be overly judgmental of anyone.  I would like to think that I am the type of person that could get along with just about anyone.  Perhaps I may be a tad biased, but I’d also like to think that most would agree with me.  You have to admit that, at the very least, I am nothing like my sister.

Angelica Jones is the angry, violent, sadistic member of The Sisterhood.  Angelica Jones is the one who will take no prisoners and will do whatever is necessary to overcome her enemy.  I am not like that.  I can get violent if necessary but being as extremely violent as she is, well that’s just not in my nature.  I can be sadistic if I am pushed to that level but I’m rarely pushed to that level.  As for the anger…

…well, we all get angry from time to time, right?  It’s just a matter of do you have a short fuse or a long fuse?  Or to put it another way, how much are you willing to put up with before you’ve had enough?  How much are you willing to put up with until you get sick and tired of it all and you just snap?

You can guess that my sister usually has the shorter fuse.  I tend to be the more patient member of The Sisterhood.

And yet it all goes back to what I just said; everyone gets angry.  Everyone has a point at which they cannot take anymore.  And when it comes to me, I can tolerate the stupidity and ignorance and overall incompetence of certain people.  I can tolerate it to a degree, I have some patience for those people, but even I have a breaking point.

That breaking point is named Lexi Von Aaron.

Lexi Von Aaron is the great gimmick thief.  She came into this sport thinking she would be pure and wholesome, the exact opposite of her deranged, perverse brother Ethan Von Aaron.  You have a problem, darling; you are definitely not that first to have tried that gimmick.

I could go on and on naming wrestlers I have either encountered or watched on television who have utilized a similar gimmick, but at risk of the peanut gallery whining about how only SCW and maybe UWA matters here, I will just point out one person and one person only…Alana Starr.

During that time, darling, you were just an Alana Starr wannabe.  You were an Alana Starr reject.  The difference is that as annoying as she is, she is damn talented.  You were the type kept falling flat on her face because you were a failure.

That brings me to the next step in your evolution; your Money In The Bank days.

Is Money In The Bank still a thing now?  Irrelevant, but the point is that you hung onto their coattails.  Chanel Hunter and Lenore Mason always were and always will be Money In The Bank.  You were just the glorified cheerleader.

It didn’t even make sense for you to belong with Chanel and Lenore in Money In The Bank.  You were quite the racist back in the day and Chanel damn near killed you for it.  My how quickly people kiss and make up in this industry.

But let’s put that minor little issue to the side for a moment, because I want to focus on how you really never fit in with either Chanel or Lenore.  You never fit in with Money In The Bank.  You went from a prude to a stuck up valley girl willing to shake your with the sluttiest of the sluts.

Yeah, that’s definitely a realistic, believable transformation.

Now you’re the redheaded defender of all things ginger?  You even dubbed this new movement of yours the #NationOfGinger.  Cute, real cute, and it’d be even cuter had it been original.  Unfortunately it’s not original.

Jenni “Jinxy” Anderson of GCW and Marie Annabelle Jones of UWA called, you know, the founders of the original #GingerNation?  Yeah, they want their gimmick back.

Oops, silly me for mentioning feds that are supposedly irrelevant in the SCW universe.

And the way you’re going about it, Lexi, just further illustrates your stupidity and ignorance.  You claim that injustice against gingers is racism?  Sweetie, being ginger has to do with hair color.  It isn’t a damn race, you dimwit.

Oh but what am I saying?  Your stupidity is well known, Lexi.  I’m preaching to the choir because, quite frankly, everyone already knows it.  And God knows I don’t want to be accused of stating too many facts.  Don’t want too many of those pesky facts running around, now do we?  If some supposedly honorable people had their way, mentioning facts would be left out of the equation.

But that’s not who I am and that’s not how I roll.  You cannot argue facts no matter who you are.  It doesn’t matter how great you are and it damn sure doesn’t matter if you come from a famous family like the Jones family, the Von Aarons, the Cruze family, or the Helms family, at the end of the day the one thing that you cannot change, no matter how powerful or famous you are, is a fact of life.

And the fact of life, Lexi, is that stupidity…or outright ignorance and incompetence, whichever it is for you…will always lead to your ultimate destruction.  Incompetent people are always failures.  Why is it that you left Rise To Greatness empty handed, Lexi?

It had nothing to do with “racism against gingers” or any other stupid claim you can think of.  You failed because you were incompetent.

Do I sound too harsh?  Do I sound mean?  Tough.  I’m speaking facts about the lesser Von Aaron, and the fact is that you are truly what everyone says you are…stupid.

But while we’re on the subject of intelligence, let’s talk about my feet.  How does my feet and intelligence tie together in any way, you may ask?

Have you ever heard the term “educated feet”?  It means you are a damn striker, especially when it comes to your feet.  And Lexi, there is no one in SCW whose feet are more “educated” than me.  I would dare say my feet are more educated than your entire body.

Or perhaps that’s just hyperbole.  Look up that word in a dictionary, Lexi.  Although I am quite certain that you have never used a dictionary before in your entire life.

That may be hyperbole, but what isn’t hyperbole is what I am going to do with these educated feet.  Lexi, I am going to kick your teeth right down your throat.
