Boston, Massachusetts
Off Camera
==========
You know that time right after the sun went down
but yet it’s not quite pitch black dark yet? The outskirts of Boston,
Massachusetts are quiet and peaceful at this moment and literally the only
noise that can be heard is the laughter of two joyous redheads. They are
siblings, the older is the shorter of the two, wearing a tight form fitting
sparkly sequined red dress and patent leather high heel pumps. Next to her is her younger and yet slightly
taller sibling, wearing an equally, if not more so, tighter little black dress
with strappy heeled black sandals. You wouldn’t know it by looking at
them, but both women are in their mid forties.
Part of it is good genes, part of it is good upkeep of themselves, but
either Angelica Jones and her younger sister Kayla Jones-Snow look good, they
know it, and they have enjoyed their night out tonight.
This is something the sisters haven’t had the
opportunity to share in a long time; a chance to just be together by
themselves. Ever since Angelica made a return to SCW last year to team
with James Evans and make a run for the SCW World Tag Team Championship, the
sisters have drifted apart, partially due to schedule conflicts.
Angelica, being a full time competitor and traveling with both Supreme
Championship Wrestling as well as with Global Championship Wrestling made it
damn near impossible to spend time with family, or anyone else for that
matter. Another reason for the siblings drifting apart was due to
jealousy, mostly on the part of Kayla Jones-Snow. The sisters had left SCW together at
Retribution with the promise that neither would return, and that their match
against one another at that pay per view event would be the final match of
either member of The Sisterhood. Kayla seeing Angelica return and not
only breaking the promise but also winning the tag team titles with someone
other than her brought out some jealousy.
Jealousy is a monster that can kill any
relationship and nearly did kill the strong relationship Angelica and Kayla
once had. The key to stopping jealousy from ruining a relationship is to
know when to be humble. Granted, Kayla
isn’t exactly known for being humble these days, not with her campaign of the
wrestling world “Needing More Kayla”; but when she saw her sister Angelica in
need of assistance, of course she was there. Because she did want her
sister back…
...she just wanted her back on the right terms, HER
terms.
“That steak dinner was absolutely delicious!”
Angelica exclaims. “I can’t believe we never ate there before!”
“Correction, you never ate there before.
Honestly, I hadn’t been there before either until Trenton discovered it.”
“And why didn’t we eat there before?” Angelica asks
curiously. Kayla shrugs her shoulders.
“No clue. For me I think places like that
used to be too fancy for my taste.”
“Clearly not anymore.” Angelica says with a
smirk. Kayla nods her head, admitting that her older sister is correct.
“This is true, being with Trenton has added a wider
variety to my tastes. But honestly, look at us, Angel. Look at everything we’ve endured in our
lives. Mom was raped and murdered when we were just kids.”
Angelica’s smiles quickly fades. She sighs
and nods her head. “Yeah, and I had to watch it all happen.”
“Precisely. We were separated by the
worthless efforts of a pathetic piece of shit father and good for nothing
corrupt social services department. Dad put you in a convent but me, I
got put in the foster care of an abusive drunk who beat me and sexually abused
me. And yet despite all of that, despite
all of the hell we were put through, despite the unfair hand that life dealt
us, here we are…”
Kayla comes to a stop not too far away from the
grand Jones family home where they spent their childhood lives. Angelica
purchased it later in life and now lives there herself. It is quite large and almost looks victorian
in its elegance. The younger redhead motions towards the home and then
looks back at her sister.
“...this! We deserve all of this and every
other luxury that we receive in life! We deserve the finest of housing
and the best luxury vehicles! We deserve
the money as well as the praise and respect we get from the world for what we
have contributed!”
“Yeah, the world took from us and yet we still
contribute to it…” Angelica’s voice trails off. Kayla immediately nods
her head.
“Damn right! You and I are role models.
People should look up to us. The world needs more Angelica, it needs more
Kayla. It needs more Sisterhood.”
Angelica nods her head in agreement and then leans
in to embrace her younger sister in a tight hug. Upon breaking the
embrace Angelica smiles warmly at Kayla before speaking.
“I miss this…”
“Miss what?” Kayla asks curiously.
“You and me.” She points to herself and Kayla.
“Just us going out like this. Just you and me hanging out like the best
of friends that we used to be.”
“What do you mean like we used to be?” Kayla asks
with an arched brow out of curiosity. “Aren’t we still the best of
friends? We are sisters, after all.”
“Of course, but you know as well as I do that we
started drifting apart.”
“Maybe we did? But admit, Angel, that you and
I cannot have a strong relationship when we’re never around one another, and we
could have been around one another a lot more had we both stuck to the
agreement…” her voice trails off as she makes a clear and obvious reference to
the promise they made after SCW Retribution last year, the promise they made
never to return to SCW. It was a promise that Angelica broke and she
knows it.
“I remember that promise and you’re right, if I had
not returned to SCW then we could have plenty of time together. But to be
fair, we promised that The Sisterhood would never return to SCW and it didn’t.”
“You’re splitting hairs.” Kayla rolls her eyes.
“But I suppose I shouldn’t stay angry at you…”
“What about jealous?” Angelica asks. Kayla
nods her head.
“Yes, I admit that I was jealous of what you and
James Evans had going on in SCW. But I’m past that, I’m happy for what
you and James were able to accomplish as a tag team.”
“Are you serious?”
“Of course!” Kayla exclaims happily. “I will always
be happy for you, Angel. You and I, we need to remember to stick
together. Always.”
“I know that now.” Angelica nods her head in
agreement. “That became painfully clear when I started on my downward spiral,
losing the tag titles in SCW, losing streak in GCW that included a loss to
Princess Nava Farrin. If I had just listened to you, maybe none of that
wouldn’t have happened.”
The younger Jones sibling shakes her head. “It’s
water under the bridge, sis. Let’s just move on and focus on the
future. Sound good?”
“Sounds great.”
The sisters embrace one more time before beginning
to make their way up the walkway that leads to the large Jones estate mentioned
earlier. It doesn’t take long before they reach the front door. Angelica opens it up with her key before
turning to face her sister. She motions
for Kayla to join her inside.
“Want to come in for a moment?”
“Do you have wine?” Kayla asks with a wry grin on
her face. Angelica responds with a nod of her head.
“You know I do.”
Angelica leads the way inside with Kayla following
her. Immediately upon entering the home, she is led a short distance down
a hall and then to the right into the living room. The Matriarch of the
Jones family continues her slow but steady march from there out of the living
room and to the next room, towards the dining room. Her sister, Kayla,
follows close behind. The elder Jones enters the dining room and approaches the
refrigerator. Kayla sits down at the luxurious dining room table. Angelica
retrieves a bottle of red wine and two wine glasses. The Dragon sets the two
wine glasses down and pours the wine. Kayla takes her glass and holds it
up for a toast.
“To Sisterhood, to friendship, and to our continued
success!”
Angelica nods her head in agreement and then touches
her glass against Kayla’s making a clinking noise. Both sisters take a
sip of their wine. After placing her
wine glass back down on the table Angelica speaks up.
“You know, it’s been over three years…”
“Since what?” Kayla asks curiously.
“It’s been over three years since dad died.”
There is a long tense silence as Kayla sets her
wine glass down. She stares down into the alcoholic liquid and then back
up at her older sister. Jones sighs deeply and then finally shrugs her
shoulders.
“So what?”
“What do you mean?”
“I can ask you the same question.” Kayla states
angrily. “Why even bring that bastard up? He was a pathetic excuse of a
father, he screwed up our lives and why?
Because he didn’t want to live up to the responsibilities of being a
father.”
“In fairness to him, our mother had just died.”
Angelica points out. Kayla nods her head.
“Yes, and he should have kept us. He should
have been a father. But he was so full
of rage and a desire for revenge that he gave us up so he could go running off
to Europe and hunt down the killer. And sure, you can give him the
benefit of a doubt, but then again you ended up in a better situation than I
did. In the convent you weren’t beaten
on a regular basis by an abusive drunk. In the convent you weren’t
sexually abused on a regular basis by that same abusive drunk who was supposed
to be your foster father. All of that is
because dad abandoned me. So don’t tell
me that I’m being unfair to dad when I being perfectly fair to that son of a
bitch.”
There is yet another long silence as Angelica
doesn’t bat an eye at her younger sibling’s outburst. Angelica shakes her
head. “I never said you were being unfair.
I just know it’s been over three years.”
“And your point is?” Kayla demands. Angelica
takes another sip of her wine and then sighs.
“I don’t know. I guess I kind of miss him.”
“Listen to me, Angel.” Kayla takes a sip of her
wine glass and then sets it down. She reaches out and takes her sister by
the hands and squeezes them tightly. “Forget about him. He’s gone. Quite frankly, you need to try and let go of
mom’s memory as well. She’s not coming
back either. It’s just you and me now.
Your daughters, my children, my husband, Aphrodite, that’s our family.”
“Wait a second,” Angelica furrows her brow “you
consider Aphrodite family now?”
Kayla chuckles. “I know, it took me awhile to warm
up to her but yes, I consider her family. But the point is, Angel, we
have our own family now and our family needs to stick together.”

On Camera
==========
The camera opens in front of a roaring
fireplace. The mantle looks luxurious, covered in marble, and the floor
is a gorgeous cream colored carpet. We pan over slowly but surely until
we spot a comfortable black leather sofa.
It isn’t long of a wait after that until Kayla Jones-Snow walks into the
scene from stage right. She is wearing a tight, form fitting, gorgeous
jade green dress. She is perched atop
black high heeled pumps and her GCW Heritage Championship title belt is draped
over her right shoulder. A smug grin is etched across her face.
“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my lovely
home! Feel free to be jealous, it’s perfectly natural because, after all,
none of you little people will ever reach my level of wealth and
privilege. But that’s ok! You can
live vicariously through me!”
Jones-Snow sets her title belt on the arm of the
sofa. She reaches over onto the coffee table across from the sofa and
produces a Need More Kayla 2020 Calendar and holds it up in front of the
camera, displaying it for the viewers at home.
“This right here is the hottest item on the market
today, a Need More Kayla 2020 Calendar. You can get yours if you order
now, because admit it, you do need more Kayla.” She winks at the camera before
setting the calendar back down on the table. Kayla then sits down on the
sofa, crosses her legs and stares confidently into the camera.
“You may have heard about the upcoming God of
Wrestling Tournament being sponsored by Supreme Championship Wrestling and
hosted by Adam Allocco. Well, Adam truly is a brilliant man, a genius if
you will, because he recognized that his tournament needed more Kayla. So he graciously invited me to
participate. And how could I possibly reject my fans?” She winks at the
camera.
“Speaking of my fans, I know that my fans are truly
excited about the possibility of me being crowned the new Goddess of
Wrestling. I mean, let’s face it, look at the competition I’m up against,
especially my first round opponent Max Kane.” She waves at the camera. “Don’t
worry, Max! I’ll end it quickly with one swift kick to your jaw, knocking
you out cold! Just know that you can
have the honor and privilege of telling your friends and family that you shared
a ring with Kayla Jones-Snow, THE Goddess of Wrestling.”
“All that being said, I wish to take time out of my
busy schedule preparing for this grueling tournament to address the thoughts,
questions, and concerns of my legions upon legions of fans out there.” Jones
picks up a little from the table and opens it up. “The first one comes from
someone calling themselves “Wonderful Lohan”...”
She rolls her eyes. “Gee, wonder who that is?
Ok, ‘Wonderful Lohan’ says ‘you shouldn’t underestimate Max Kane. He is a
former SCW World Tag Team Champion. He
isn’t a slouch.”
Jones tosses the letter aside and chuckles. “Yes, I
know Max has been a former SCW World Tag Team Champion. I am a former TWO
time SCW World Tag Team Champion. As far
as SCW goes, I’ve been there, done that, conquered it. SCW needs more
Kayla but they don’t DESERVE more Kayla.
Max may be a former champion there, but so am I. So what is your point?”
The redheaded Heritage Champion reaches down and
produces another letter from the pile. “This letter is from a Mr. T Snow…no,
not that one. I assure you that I would not have my husband plant letters
in this pile just to make me look good.
I don’t need any help looking good, trust me.”
“Mr. T Snow says, ‘Max Kane really doesn’t stand a
chance against you. Why don’t they just give you a bye into the next
round? I mean, they may as well have
done that considering who you got round one.’” Kayla nods her head in
agreement. “Yes, I agree, a bye would have been faster but you know their are
rules and regulations we all must abide by. This is just red tape, as far
as I’m concerned. Max Kane will get his
shot, he’ll do his best, but he will fall victim to the deadliest superkick in
professional wrestling, the Kaylan Wind Kick.
So no worries, sweetie.”
She reaches over and produces another letter.
“This one comes from Brooklyn Smith…’you should be ashamed of yourself!
You didn’t win that Heritage Championship, you were GIVEN the Heritage
Title! And if you think you are gonna win the God of Wrestling Tournament
then you are clearly underestimating all of your opposition, especially Max
Kane! I hope he gives you a reality check and if not, I will!’”
Jones tosses the letter aside and scowls off
camera. “Ok, you guys did screen these letters, didn’t you? Ok, which of
you let this letter through? You
did? Good, you’re fired.” She turns back
to face the camera and smiles sweetly. “We won’t address that kind of
negativity. Let’s move on…”
Another letter is jerked off the table. “This one
is from The Gambit. It reads…” she furrows her brow out of curiosity
“...well, nothing. It’s just three dots,
it’s a freaking ellipses…” she sighs as she looks up at the camera “...look,
Andreas, is this about the twins? I would like the twins to be there to
watch me kick Max Kane into the next world.
I would like for the twins to watch their mom march on through this
tournament and become the Goddess of Wrestling.
But if it’s going to interfere with your time with them, fine, they
don’t have to come. Sheesh…”
She tosses that letter aside and then produces
another letter. “This is from ‘Kissed by an Angel’...’Can you please tell all
your legions of fans your beauty tips and how you stay glowing all day to make
us want More Kayla?’”
“See? Now this is precisely the kind of fan
letter more of you people should write. Write letters like this one from
clearly a well educated and polite fan of Kayla Jones-Snow. As for your
question, Kissed by an Angel, yes I will share my beauty tips with my legions
of fans, but it will have to wait until another day. I’m nearly out of
time here and I want to make one final comment about the God of Wrestling
Tournament and my first round opponent.”
Her eyes narrow as she looks into the camera. “Max
Kane, if you think you have a shot at making it in this tournament then you are
clearly delusional. You’ve been carried your entire career, most recently
by the likes of Dawn Lohan. But when
this tournament kicks off and you go face to face with me, there will be no one
to carry you and no one to protect you. You will fall victim to the
deadliest kick in professional wrestling and it will be over…”
She snaps her fingers “...just like that.
Don’t worry, everyone who loses to me in this tournament will receive a Needs
More Kayla 2020 Calendar as a consolation prize. So it isn’t a total
loss, Max.”
Jones smiles sweetly at the camera as the scene
fades to black.
